HOPE Award Finalists Are Committed to Helping Achieve and Sustain Minority Home Ownership

WASHINGTON (March 4, 2011) – Despite the many barriers to home ownership, there are individuals and organizations across the country who are dedicated to helping minority families achieve and sustain their dreams of buying and owning a home. The 16 finalists for the 2011 HOPE Awards (Home Ownership Participation for Everyone) were selected for their commitment to helping minority home buyers minimize and overcome barriers to owning a home, forever enhancing and changing their lives.

The HOPE Awards is a national industry awards program that was created in 2001. The awards recognize individuals and organizations that are helping to increase and sustain minority home ownership and are sponsored by a partnership of real estate associations; awards are conferred every other year. Winners receive $10,000.

Later this month, a panel of distinguished judges will narrow down the 16 finalists to seven winners in the areas of education, finance, leadership, media, housing project or development, public policy, and real estate brokerage.
