CREAA Hosts Leadership Summit in San Francisco
On November 4, 2009, CREAA hosted the Northern California Leadership Summit in San Francisco. In attendance were leaders from:
- Asian Real Estate Association of East Bay (AREAEB)
- Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA)
- California Association of REALTORS (CAR)
- Chinese American Real Estate Association (CAREA)
- Chinese Real Estate Association of America (CREAA)
- Filipino-American Real Estate Professional Association (FAREPA)
- National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP)
- National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB)
- South Asian Real Estate Association of America (SAREAA)
The purpose of the meeting was for the various ethnic real estate organizations to communicate with CAR on the important issues minorities are facing and provide a forum for discussion to better inform, educate and support each other.
Eva Hom, President of CREAA, facilitated the morning session with reports from each organization of their current activities, and legislative updates including a review of current year legislation and threats and challenges for 2010.
John M. Lee, Chairman of CREAA, led the afternoon discussion on topics such as defining the type of loan products that are beneficial to the ethnic groups; determining how the various ethnic groups can assist the local and state real estate associations in influencing legislative policy; discussion on how and what minorities can do to advance within the ranks of CAR; and reviewing the goals and purposes of the Leadership Summit.
Many ideas were exchanged and relationships cemented for the future. All participants left with the thought that this forum provides opportunities for open dialog and that with efforts like this, we can all work together to build a better future for all our members!
